The City of Edmonton (population ~1,010,899) is the capital city of the Province of Alberta. It is on the North Saskatchewan River and is the centre of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. It is Alberta’s second-largest city and Canada’s fifth-largest municipality.
The City of Edmonton has managed and protected its natural assets using an Ecological Network Approach outlined in its Natural Area Systems Policy (Policy C531)5 and associated Natural Connections Strategic Plan.
