Natural Asset Management Training for Non-Profit Organizations

Who Should Participate?

This training is designed for staff of non-profit organizations that work with or train local governments on:

  • Climate adaptation or resilience planning
  • Asset management planning
  • Adopting nature-based (natural infrastructure) solutions 

No previous experience with asset management or nature-based solutions is required.

Program Details

When

April 7 and 9, 2026, from 12pm – 3pm ET.

Time Commitment

Training consists of two three-hour virtual workshops held over two days.  Following the workshops, all participants will receive access to an online learning portal with support materials they can use in their own work.

Cost

$500 per organization (includes up to three staff members).
Capacity development partners of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation (LLCA) initiative may participate at no charge.

Program Objectives

By the end of the workshops, you will:

  • Be able to communicate fundamental concepts of natural asset management and demonstrate how it supports climate adaptation planning
  • Be able to support local governments in the first steps of natural asset management
  • Be able to identify where you can apply natural asset management concepts and approaches in your climate adaptation or asset management planning work.

Online Portal

NAI will provide participants with ongoing access to an online learning portal with support materials they can use in their own work. These materials will be reviewed and updated periodically, and include:

  • Slide decks that can be adapted for different audiences and learning objectives
  • Regional examples of natural asset management projects and results
  • Answers to frequently asked questions
  • A facilitator guidebook and worksheet to support local governments with first steps in natural asset management
